X-Rite launches ColorChecker contest for best or most original use
X-Rite Inc., Grand Rapids, Mich., is launching a global contest for its ColorChecker product, a checkerboard array of 24 scientifically prepared colored squares that match the colors of natural objects under any illumination and with any color reproduction process. "Where in the World is your ColorChecker?" recognizes the best or most original photos using ColorChecker. The contest runs through Dec. 10, when a panel of industry experts will judge all submissions, selecting 10 top photos to award and post online. The company will give away 100 Mini ColorCheckers daily and chances to win either an X-Rite i1Display 2 or a X-Rite ColorMunki Photo.
Splashlight announces new CGI department, names first Creative Director
Photography services provider Splashlight, New York, N.Y., opened a new CGI department that will specialize in print imagery for its advertising, editorial, and corporate clients. Splashlight also named Joe Zeff its creative director, a new position at the company.Zeff will oversee all creative projects for Splashlight clients, including the new CGI (Computer Generated Illustration) for Print department and other digital imagery groups.An expert in CGI for Print, Zeff worked closely with the engineers at NewTek and other companies to enhance the capabilities of their CGI software for print applications.
Splashlight offers a full range of photographic services including studio rentals, phphotographic equipment, digital capture, production, digital asset management, retouching services, event space and now CGI for Print.
The CGI department at Splashlight will also include Ed Gabel, who was named Splashlight's first CGI Director.Zeff and Gabel are long-time collaborators, both at Time magazine and Joe Zeff Design Inc. Last month, Splashlight completed the acquisition of Joe Zeff Design, which had specialized in CGI for Print since 2000.
