PMA 07 Trends

Various companies introduce new silver recovery products at PMA 07

Silver recovery products are still alive and well and new ones were introduced at PMA 07 (just like with film). Even with declining film usage, there are still consumers shooting film, and likewise still a need for silver recovery at retail.

The Academy Corp., Albuquerque, N.M., presented three new silver recovery products at PMA 07. The CPU, a compact silver recovery unit targeted at today's low volume imaging operations; the Minute SRU, offering a low maintenance system for locations with or without drain access including an automatic system pressure relief for locations up to 75 rolls per day; and the EPS-6,  an economical system that offers efficient silver recovery for lower initial investment.

ECS Refining, Santa Clara, Calif., introduced an upgraded pumping station for the Pureflow silver recovery systems. These stations offer automatic shut-off, pressure alarms and switches to avoid system backup problems. The systems also offer a new compact design for space limited operations. The Pureflow product offers extended column life and minimized drain clogging.

The I-Pump system, introduced by Metafix Inc., Lachine, Quebec, is designed to work with the Meta-Trax system. The I-Pump offers a high pressure alarm and an auto-reverse pump to reduce system pressure prior to maintenance. The system is also designed to communicate with Metafix offices to provide a seamless cartridge change-out program. It has also been redesigned to be compact and work easily in limited space situations.
